3 vital tips to enjoy a beach vacation with your baby
Do you remember your beach vacations when you would throw your swimsuit, two T-shirts, flip-flops and some shorts into a suitcase and head off to sunny lands in a state of total relaxation and bliss? Well, times have changed now. Now you are a mother or father, now you are parents of a baby and a beach vacation is no longer just a vacation, but a project, which must be organized in advance to be carried out efficiently. A beach vacation can be as relaxing and beautiful as it was before the baby, if you know how to prepare for it and anticipate the needs of your little one. So, without a doubt, consider the tips below. They are vital for a successful beach vacation when you also have a baby.
Acclimating your baby to water
I put this tip first because it's the most important. Of course, just imagine the moment: you've arrived at the beach, it's warm, sunny, and the sea is clear. The waves are breaking gently, the water is clear and warm, and you can't wait to splash around with your little one. But as soon as he touches the water, your baby starts crying and refuses to go near it. And so, you can end up wasting the first few days of your vacation with hours of patience trying to convince a strong, but scared, personality that water is fun, not dangerous.

For this reason, we recommend that, for your baby's first beach vacation, you prepare by offering him the relaxation he needs through acclimatization courses with the water and the sensations and emotions it offers. In this way, with the support of ABC specialists in aquatic education, you will tick off all the physical and emotional needs that your child may have on his first beach vacation:
- It will adapt to the kinesthetic stimuli of water: temperature, texture, weightlessness;
- They will understand the movement of water and how its liquid state affects the body (more specifically, they will not be scared if water gets into their eyes or ears);
- He will learn to play in the water with different toys that will make his adventure more fun;
- He will make his first dives in a safe environment, so that he is not scared, but only feels good and wants to play, and the sea water becomes a relaxing environment that stimulates him to play;
- He will get along with other children of similar ages and with other people he doesn't know, thus reducing his anxiety towards strangers, who will be unavoidable on the beach on vacation.
This way, you ensure that, before your baby's first contact with the sea, he understands that water is his friend and that it offers him freedom of movement, play and fun. And you also ensure that you will have a successful vacation, where the sea water with all its benefits, will be the main character in providing the fun and relaxation you are looking for.

Luggage is important now
On the principle that it's better to have too much than not enough, pay close attention to your luggage. When you have a baby, you have to keep track of his needs and the situations that might arise on a beach vacation. So, in addition to what you normally take with you on a vacation, when you go to the beach, it's a good idea to check off the following list:
- Medicines for children: ointment for irritations, ointment for insect bites, ointment for sunburn, antibacterial ointment, insect repellent spray, rehydration salts, probiotics, waterproof adhesive plaster, saline solution (useful for removing sand from the eye area), eye drops, ear drops, sterile dressings;
- Children's cosmetics: shower gel, sunscreen lotion, body moisturizer after sun exposure, wet wipes, disinfectant wipes;
- Beach accessories: 2 hats or caps, sunglasses, water diapers, towel, toys, beach mat/beach blanket/beach mattress, beach umbrella/beach tent, mini inflatable pool, ring.

Choose your destination carefully
The last tip on our list is just as important. The first beach vacation with your baby means that he is under 2 years old, so the location you choose must comply with the needs of his age and your needs in caring for him. So, choose a hotel that is baby-friendly, starting with the comfort it offers and ending with the attention to hygiene. Here is what you should look for when choosing a hotel for a quiet and comfortable beach vacation with your baby:
- It should not involve a very long journey (no more than 2-3 hours by plane, no more than 5-6 hours by car);
- It should have a private beach with fine sand, small waves (preferably located in a bay), with a smooth entrance to the water and be as close to the hotel as possible;
- Have a swimming pool for children;
- Have a large garden, with paths, where you can walk the baby;
- The rooms should be spacious and very clean (read the reviews of those who have been guests at that hotel). Ideally, there should be air conditioning, a kitchenette where you can heat your little one's milk, a mini-fridge, and a balcony where you can take refuge when your little one takes a nap;
- Provide facilities for small children: baby bed, baby food, baby kit in the room, baby club, children's park, stroller rental, high chairs for babies, babysitting services.

Now that the list is complete, we have just one more piece of advice to add: leave your expectations at home and take patience and love with you. Because the first beach vacation with your baby will be completely different from what you've experienced so far. You will see the joy of the waves and playing in the sand through his eyes now; you will feel his joy, but also the slightest discomfort; you will fight with patience but you will fully enjoy the time spent together. And you will exult with happiness! Because, there, on the beach, feeling the sand under your feet, listening to the waves of the sea and enjoying its breeze, there, holding your bundle of love in your arms, you will have the most beautiful revelation of a parent that you will whisper gently in his ear: my life was not complete until you appeared!
So, have a nice vacation, dear parents! It will definitely be an unforgettable one!
