I often get asked about which swimming pools and swimming classes for babies I recommend in Bucharest. I know there are many options, we investigated a few ourselves, we didn't go to any when the kids were little, but last year we discovered a baby aquatic club that we really liked and which I'm writing about here, for all the parents of babies who love the water.
My kids are older now, they take swimming lessons at a small pool near their school, so it's convenient for us to get there quickly. They no longer need purified, chlorine-free water or a personal trainer, essential things when we're talking about babies.
Before I tell you about Acvatic Bebe Club, I will briefly summarize the main benefits of aquatic education for toddlers, i.e. splashing and fun with a personal instructor. At the end of the article you will also find information about a 10% discount on subscriptions, from me.
Playing in water helps babies correct their posture, exercise healthily, sleep and eat better, have good muscle tone, gain balance and coordination in movements, have self-confidence, not be afraid of water, and be able to stay safely in the water as they grow.
In addition, the results of the study by Griffith University in Australia, conducted on a sample of 7,000 parents and the actual study of a group of 177 children up to 5 years old (I have the full study, I'll send it to you if you want to read it) on the impact of aquatic education on future development say that aquatic education:
* develops the baby's communication skills;
* develops later reading and math skills more quickly
* lays solid foundations in the transition to other learning contexts (foreign languages, creativity, spatio-temporal orientation)
*can correct conditions resulting from premature birth or as a result of being underweight;
*can relieve and/or improve symptoms associated with neuromotor, respiratory (asthma) or behavioral (ADHD, autism) conditions.
Now I want to tell you about Acvatic Bebe Club, which is located in the Piața Muncii area. And which also has an artificial salt lake. Details can be found below.
What we liked about them:
They have a very efficient water purification system, based on ultraviolet and oxygen, without chlorine or salt electrolysis (which could trigger allergies, skin and eye irritations or other adverse effects in babies).
The instructors are young and experienced with children. When I visited, I saw babies under one year old laughing in the pool in the instructors' arms, while their mothers relaxed reading in the waiting room.
The pool is full of toys and the water temperature is 32 degrees.
The acclimatization room (where the temperature is 28 degrees, so that the baby can smoothly transition from 32 degrees in the pool to 23 in the waiting room) is equipped with changing mats and sanitary acrylic bathtubs.
Sessions you don't use can be recovered
The club has aquatic education programs adapted to age categories, at the pace of babies' development.
The club also has an artificial salt mine, where shows are organized on weekends during which children benefit from the positive effects of a natural salt mine: musical theater, interactive theater, magic, circus, or events with special guests (Snow White, Elsa), which offer various games and art & craft activities. Acvatic Bebe Club offers a free session with an individual instructor, without the condition of concluding a subscription, for each baby aged between 4-36 months, based on available places and the presentation of health certificates requested by the club's reception.
