About building the immune system, your child's superpower
The immune system is like a protective cloak for our body. Biologically, it is a network of organs, cells and proteins that defend us against infections/bacteria, but we can easily associate it with a superpower, like those in movies and cartoons so appreciated by children and adults.
When bacteria and viruses enter the body, they are identified, and our cloak shows its superpowers, preventing the deterioration of health. Moreover, the immune system has a memory and, thanks to it, keeps a "record" of the microbes it has defeated. In the future, it will recognize and destroy them much faster, before they multiply and affect overall health.
Are babies born with superpowers?
When a baby is born, they have an immune system, but it is immature. It is an untamed force that only reaches its potential around the age of 4-5. At this age, the levels of antibodies, initially produced during the primary immune response, reach those of an adult.
So you ask yourself, Where does a baby get superpowers before birth??
- Well, in the third trimester of pregnancy, the mother begins to create a protective mantle for the baby, transferring a series of antibodies to it through the placenta. Of course, the quality and quantity of antibodies also depend on the mother's immunity. So, if you are a future mother, pay extra attention to your pregnancy, follow your doctor's recommendations, relax, adopt healthy eating habits and, if your condition allows, stay active!
- During birth, the baby also receives a number of bacteria from the mother. These help build the colony in the little ones' intestines, another component that increases the babies' superpowers.
- After birth, more antibodies are transmitted to the baby through colostrum and breast milk. Even so, the baby's immune system is not yet as strong as that of adults, it will be subjected to challenges, just like the little ones' favorite heroes. But with each challenge, the little ones' strength increases. Specifically, babies become stronger with each exposure to viruses and bacteria, creating their own antibodies.
In addition to these, there are a few things you can do as a parent to perfect your child's superpower. We will reveal them to you in the rest of our article.?
How can you train the immune system of a baby and toddler?
- What a beautiful moment breastfeeding is! Yes, even through breastfeeding you can support the development of your baby's immune system. Breast milk contains proteins, fats, sugars and antibodies that train the immunity of the little ones, strengthening the protective mantle. Thus, the little ones contact fewer infections and recover faster. If you can't breastfeed, don't worry! You have a healthy alternative at hand, represented by infant milk formulas.
- Another method of immunity training is probiotics for babiesAdministered only on the recommendation of a pediatrician, probiotics support intestinal health, as well as the baby's developing immune system.
- After the first months after birth, you can start strengthening your child's immune system through the safest sport: aquatic educationThis stimulates the respiratory, cardiovascular and nervous systems. Blood circulation is also activated, which has a beneficial effect on the cells of the immune system.
Another aspect is the pressure exerted by the water. During aquatic education classes, it acts on the thymus and thus supports the production of cells responsible for the development of the immune system. And so, the protective cloak is woven step by step, with patience, love and a lot of involvement.
At Acvatic Bebe Club, we encourage young parents to enroll their babies in aquatic education programs from the first months of their little ones' lives, both to train the child's fragile immune system, but also for the other benefits it brings to the lives of the little ones. We wrote about these benefits in an article on our blog, we invite you to discover them here: https://acvaticbebeclub.ro/de-ce-sa-mergi-cu-bebelusul-tau-la-educatie-acvatica-chiar-din-primele-sale-luni-de-viata.
Now you know how your baby's protective mantle is formed and what you can do to train his immunity! Follow our suggestions and schedule aquatic education sessions for babies and preschoolers! To increase his superpower. ?
