The role of aquatic education in training children's immunity
Aquatic education for babies and preschoolers is one of the most beneficial activities, and the belief that it is intended only for the warm season is erroneous. Practicing aquatic activities in the cold seasons, autumn and winter, is not at all counterproductive. On the contrary, going to aquatic education and swimming is a healthy habit that strengthens the immune system of the little ones, preventing the flu, colds and other ailments.
In the continuation of our article, we explain how aquatic education influences the immunity of little ones, so read to the end to be as informed as possible:
- Oxygenates the lungs – When a baby or child comes into contact with water, the first skill they acquire is to breathe deeply. This type of breathing facilitates the flow of cerebrospinal fluid through the body, contributing to better overall oxygenation, both of the brain and of the blood. The result is "cleaner" breathing, with much lower chances of respiratory infections.Â
If the baby/child is asthmatic, can they go to aquatic education? In this case, it is also recommended that your little one attend aquatic education classes. Some medical professionals are against prolonged swimming in pools for asthmatic children due to exposure to chlorine or other irritants that could cause an asthmatic flare-up. Therefore, it is recommended that you take your baby/child to pools with as natural water as possible, without chlorine or other chemicals. At Acvatic Bebe Club, we do not use chlorine in water treatment, but a mixed system of ozone and UV rays, so that the aquatic environment is healthy and warm, ideal for improving the condition of children with asthma.
- Reduces stress – there is no doubt that stress is one of the greatest dangers of the times we live in. And the little ones are not immune to its consequences. Stress greatly damages the defense capacity of the immune system. To combat the negative effects of stress, aquatic education classes are an excellent therapeutic technique. Water relaxes the mind and body and, consequently, the immune system will be more active.
- Reduces the risk of injury – practicing aquatic education/swimming throughout the year considerably reduces the chances of a baby or preschool child suffering joint or muscle injuries. In their case, given that they are growing, aquatic education contributes to the optimal growth of bones and muscle groups. Thus, physical strength is ensured, which is also so necessary in the body's defense system.

According to pediatric studies, aquatic education and swimming, practiced from childhood, benefit the child's health by strengthening the cardiorespiratory, psychomotor, and immune systems.
- Enhances motor skills – even if it is cold outside, the aquatic environment is warm, the little ones feel like fish in water and train their motor skills, given that, in the water, there is no difficulty in moving. Moreover, going to aquatic education throughout the year strengthens the habit of practicing sports and, implicitly, maintains a constant level of the body's defense capacity.Â
